KN typhoon??

Good morning all,

My mate has just bought a spec D hawk eye sti, it had a KN Typhoon induction kit on it which sits in the engine bay with a heat shield. He has removed it as he didnt like the noise it made and has put back on the orignal air box.

He said i can have it, personally i like the noise it makes and i was thinking of putting it in my 2004 wrx. However reading reviews people are saying stick with the air box and kn filter which i have.

Do any of you have it in your car, my thoughts though even though it has a heat shield it is still in the engine bay and probably needs a cold air feed to it.

Hope that makes sense...

Re: KN typhoon??

Ok quick update, fitted the typhoon in my lunch break. On the trip back to work the pick up was really noticeable, im not saying it added more power to the car but there is a huge difference in pick up and when giving it full beans it really is alot more pokier.
On the way back i hooked up my ipad to the car. ive got the Dashcommand software on my ipad mini and a holder from the middle vents, i purchased a wireless odb unit that just slots into the management port on the car.
The intake temp while sitting in traffic heading out of reading was around 40 and then hit 55, when i got on the a329 the intake temp got down to 13. I think but dont quote me the temp was around 30 with my standard airbox when in traffic. i really didnt make a note and should of.
Do you guys know what is bad for the engine on intake temp? the temp drops alot if i move even slowly but sitting in traffic its around high 40 and max it hit was 55.

Re: KN typhoon??

dont boot it when you have been sat in traffic and you should be fine, the temp will soon drop off when moving, just igve it a bit to cool down first.
