gearbox codes

could someone please enlighten me to the gearbox codes , sourced a recon gearbox but the codes are slightly different , my code reads HL- TY754VN1AA ,, THE RECON BOX READS 7R-TY754VN4AA ,, the question am asking is will the recon box fit my car ??????

02 Bugeye should be running a TY754VN2AA box....the 1AA is from the later classics...
the 4AA you are looking at is from on 03 onwards WRX...if your going that route..iirc the front shafts will need to be changed....as long as the box you are looking at has the same final drive as what is fitted ,it will be good to go,if not you will wind up the rear dif n blow the guts out of it....

just checked com plate and yes it should be a 2 aa box so obviously been changed before i bought the car , the problem am having is a knockin when turning sounds like a dodgy cv but coming from centre of engine bay as i sat on the engine while someone drove in circles , could this be the difff ?

sounds like CV joint have a look if any grease has leaked out or if the rubber boot is ripped on the drive shaft.

The rest same as The Pilot suggested part numbers are bang on for the years mentioned and the diff and gear box ratios has to go together.

Turns out the guy that wad supposed to recon the box never checked centre diff cause he couldna find any play but that will be because it wasnt warm coz thats wen the noise starts, took her to scottish subaru,s, guy checked it amd turns out thr centre diff is shagged , so its box back out again

Does anyone know how to get a snapped speedo sensor out of my 2002 Bugeye Gearbox TY754VN2AA?? my Scooby's running limbo and drives like shit and ive just had a new engine fitted and can't even rev over 4500rpm.... I really cant afford to buy and fit and new gearbox.... there must be a way?? Help!!
