really low oil?

I just want to get some opinions, i only picked up a 95 wrx yesterday and drove it for a wjile and all was well.

I got in it today and started up the car and with in a few seconds check engine light comes on solid. I then turned it off and tried a couple more times but no change.

I then did some basic checks , checked petrol cap was not lose. checked coolant. Then checked engine oil and theres like nothing there. i swear there was some in it yesterday

so questions,

does the check engine light come on when oil is low and good chance it has got low and not checked?

if it is low oil when i fill it up will the light go off or will i have to reset ecu?

help.

I know if that doesent solve it i will have to get diagnostics done.

Re: really low oil?

Low oil should put the oil pressure light on and not throw a cel. You can read the code and see what code you're getting. Before starting it agin I suggest topping the oil up. The code can be read in a classic with out diagnostic equipment.

Re: really low oil?

Might be something to do with the 97. Check the code and it might prove that. Was your car ever mapped. If so it could have been mapped for vpower. I'd keep it off boost until you've done the troubleshooting

Re: really low oil?

looks like 44 Turbocharging Pressure Control Signal - Boost solenoid, maybe something to do with your boost controller ?

yeah I saw your post on snet, im only counting what I see and the fact you have that apexi boost controller, pop a picture up of the boost solenoid area of ur car, if the standard BS has been messed with it will explain the error.

Re: really low oil?

any more of the associated vac pipes, remove the cone filter and replace with the airbox btw,

But it does point towards your issue, the pipe is missing on the BS, any idea where its gone?

That one comes off the turbo manifold middle nipple.

Re: really low oil?

I have had a look this morning i can not find a pipe to connect there, also noticed there seems to be no pipe for the bottom of the saem component i believe to be the bs.

not sure where the the turbo manifold middle nipple is (il do a search)

now would there be a reason for this? any circumstances this pipes would not be required? the car was fine for the first day and possible these pipes where never present.....

Re: really low oil?

so that explains the 44 code, sort your pipes out and it will remove that code, Im guessing your boost controller is the reason but you still havent posted the picture I asked for to help confirm this,
it takes 2 mins to sort the pipes out and re pipe the BS to run what the ECU says it should, ur best binning the controller anyway.
