crank pulley

hi boys went out yesterday and everything was ok then i got out and car was making a funny nocking noise couldnt realy c anything then drove back got nearly home and my steering went realy stiff come to find out the alternater belt had come off cause the crank pulley had come very loose ive put it all bk 2gether and seems ok the pully moved a bit when tightend up but they dony need setting up or do they

is the pulley tight and the key that locates it undamaged ?

it did come loose ive tightend it up as much as i can now the pulley is a bit wobbly but it allways has been im not sure about the key it sits on

if it still wobbles I would have it checked out asap, if you leave it wobbling your looking at a BIG bill for such a crappy part.

its not a realy bad wobble its like the pulleys a tinny bit worped but im goin to get a new belt and pulley dun and check all is ok

make sure you get the timing redone as as well, just to make sure. Not a DIY job unless you know what your doing.

John why would the timing be out for the AC/Alternator pulley coming loose ?

i dont think there anything rong with the timing bud cars running perfectly fine if it was out shourly would b running crappy

how would u no if the timming isout bud i think it could b slitly out cause its u bit popt out the exhaust sumtimes and sounds a bit like its missin a beat it gets better the more u put ur foot down tho

I wouldn't worry about the timing as the pulley is separate from the crankshaft timing sprocket, however I wouldn't drive a car with a defective pulley. Sometimes they throw auxiliary belts and if it throws to the inside of the crank pulley it's can go through the timing cover and then break the timing belt.

i was only asking as what tidgy seid to get it cheacked and this has only started happenin since the pulley came off what else do u think it might b then bud its goin in 2moz 4 a new alternater belt and lightweight pulley do u think i should ask him to retime it
