Check Engine Knock Sensor

I have a 1997 outback sport 2.2 about a year or so ago I got a check engine light with a knock sensor code. Replaced the knock sensor things ok did not think the car was running 100% but no codes. Well the check engine light is back with the knock sensor code again. Why? This knock should not have gone bad so fast. It was tough putting that bolt back in tight spot. Any suggestion?
I have read about putting a knock sensor from a different year impreza make the car run better Any input would be great Thanks

Re: Check Engine Knock Sensor

Try an ecu reset. Did you do it after fitting the knock sensor the last time

Re: Check Engine Knock Sensor

Disconnect the battery overnight should do it. Just be careful as you will need your radio code for the radio if you have one like that

Re: Check Engine Knock Sensor

What type of fuel do you put in it? Super unleaded or normal? try running it with the highest ron rating as it be less prone to knock from a lower octane rating
