what are the signs of a failing fuel pump

Hello, as the title states, what are the signs of a failing fuel pump?

My fuel pump is priming ok as I can hear it when I turn the key but once the engine is ticking over I can hear a very faint whine coming from near the rear seat driver side but only from the outside of the car, cant hear it from the inside

When driving hard there is no hesitation it just keeps pulling until the turbo runs out of puff/power.

any help is appreciated.

Fuel pumps do whine. The oem pump isn't too bad but you can hear it. My walbro is really noisy and can hear it clearly from inside.

As for failure, when mine failed the first sign of failure was that it didn't work. Came out of work to drive home one night and the the car wouldn't start, knew it was the pump because it wan't priming. Had no warning whatsoever it was on its way out.

I agree, its automatic now to listen for it to prime before I try to start.

Your car starts and runs then its ok, it doesnt prime and start its gone, they go without warning generally. the whine is normal, If you do decide for replacment or upgrade i can supply HRC 255lph or 290lph and even a 340lph redtop pump all come with a 2 year rtb warranty which is better than walbro and they are quieter than walbro as well as they have better bearings.
