speakers in the front doors

Hi Guys,

can anyone tell me what size the speakers are in the front doors.

I've replace the head unit and I am now looking to upgrading the speakers, I want to go with component speakers.

Also is there a guide on the forum to removing the door cards.

I know that i could have answered question one by completing question two, but I haven't done that yet.

My intentions are to replace all of the speakers.

cheers

Brian

Re: speakers in the front doors

Hi what car is it for ?
6.5 Is the largest I have fitted on a subaru impreza and I used a 13mm spacer to stop the window hitting the magnet if that helps any.

Re: speakers in the front doors

okay I have now removed the door car and the speakers from the passenger side, removing the door card was fairly straight forward thanks to the advice I was given. I would add though that the trim piece around the door opener is a bit of a devil to get out, there's a little white press fit at the front and two very tight clips around the catch itself. I suspect on a cold day these may snap if i were to be too vigorous.

here is a picture of the door card removed.

and a picture if the poor quality front speaker, I'm not sure where the water ingress is from as the rest of the door is clean inside.

I'm just waiting for the speakers to be delivered.

hmmm images are a little on the large size

ah that makes sense, I assume you mean from the heat generated by the speaker working.

well what ever it is I'm going to have to try and stop it, I saw somewhere on another forum that someone had used waterproof tape, I'm not happy about that method though.

I'm still waiting for my speakers to be delivered. I bagged a bargain on ebay for some sound proofing though.

Re: speakers in the front doors

you could just get some waterproof replant spray and spray the back of the speaker and clean the inside of the door panel and do the same, it will help, dont forget to check the drain aways are clear so any water can get out.
