Subwoofer/Enclosures Recommendations

I've just had an amp bought for me and I'm shopping for a reasonably priced but good quality sub. I'm also interested in getting a proper fitting enclosure but I'm happy to settle with a box enclose that fits ok.

Does any one have any suggestions?

Cheers, Dan

what amp do you have? thats the important starting point,
and then what type of music do you listen too?

Re: Subwoofer/Enclosures Recommendations

It's a JBL 240w 120wRMS amp 2 channel or can be bridged. It'll be reggae, ska and drum and bass that's normally played. I don't want the bass to overpower the tune just do make it sound more solid... cheers!

You could buy something like a Kicker sub in a kicker made enclosure for pretty cheap - get one off eBay or something.

I've been recommended JL Audio, would Kicker be better?

Re: Subwoofer/Enclosures Recommendations

HELP!! Ive just started to put a basic audio system into my Import 94 Impreza, problem is the sound is mega quiet!! Ive got a Sony 4x50 watt headunit and 240 watt sony 6x9's, ive got the headunit on max and can just about hear the radio. Any suggestions? I used to be well into my sound systems in my cars, about 10 years ago, but didnt know if the stereo systems were not as good in the import models? Any help would be much appreciated thanks Gareth

I've always been a fan of vibe subs, they not the cheapest but a quality sound. BUT.. i believe the 'fli' subs you can get from halfords are made by vibe, and quite cheap! Bass Junkies always have good offers on 2.

Re: Subwoofer/Enclosures Recommendations

Could very well be a bad arial connection, im thinking of upgrading the wiring, buy some more heavy duty cable. Did you make yourself a parcel shelf? Or cut the metal on existing parcel shelf? Gareth

Re: Subwoofer/Enclosures Recommendations

very painstakingly trimmed the metal (with my mates brand new dremmal, and used all of his cutting disks haha). I'm stil using the original wiring 4 my speakers, seems fine on mine!
