dim headlights

hello, i've go a problem on my 2000 reg turbo 2000.

the headlights have always been dim so i changed to xenon bulbs recently but these seemed to make it worse for some reason???

so i changed back to the original bulbs and have noticed no improvement at all either. i've also noticed that since i changed the bulbs that the main beam indicator light (on the dash) illuminates faintly. any ideas what this is?

thanks

Re: dim headlights

would say possibly a bad earth, could be a dodgy connection, also check the condition of the reflecters in the headlamps, just sorted one for a mate who had the inside of the lamp, lose it's paint and looked burnt too,so look into that as well..could also be the alternator getting weak..

Re: dim headlights

Was thinking alternator to if none of the above work for you test the alternator with load thats all electrics on shouldnt really drop below 13.5 volts. With no load thats no electrics on should be round the 14.5 to 14volts for a healthy alternator hope it helps fast test with a multi meter
