Question 2wd light

i was driving the other day and i saw a light flicker in the corner of my eye when i pulled off, i ignored it and today its come up permanently it is a red symbol saying 2wd, im guessing it means somethings wrong but my car is still driving on all 4 wheels and engine management is not up, its a 98 wrx import, i thought these cars were permanent 4wd, im confused!

Most odd. Neither of my JDM cars have ever done such a thing, in fact don't think they even have a 2wd light. I'll take a look.
