Adding additional keys

hey guys,

well i finally got round to getting my Scooby, and have been loving it ( just over a week now )

Purchased a 54 plate WRX with PPP.

I was given two keys with the car, but the code for the alarm pad had previously been changed. Managed to get this sorted out with Subaru over the phone today, and have successfully reset the pin to my own.

The problem I have, is that only one key worked with the car, the spare key had no battery. I purchased a battery, and went through the alarm process, as per the alarm manual I received with the car - to add New Radio transmitters to the security system.

**XXXX ( enter pin )
*91 ( code to accept new transmitters )
*2 ( number of transmitters you are adding )
# ( accept the change )

Obviously XXXX being my PIN.

I hear the successful beep after entering the Pin, and again after the hash.

All you are supposed to do then, is press the keyfob on each key.

I press each key, and I again hear a beep back from the alarm.

everything seems fine, however my original key, disarms the alarm via the keyfob, and starts the car no problem.

the 2nd key, appears to disarm the alarm ( remote central locking is working with this key ) and the car will also start, but then after around 5 seconds, the car cuts out - and the 'Key' is displayed on the dash, to show its immobilsed.

Anyone know whether I am doing something wrong ?

Re: Adding additional keys

Sounds like the transponder chip in the 2nd key is different to that which is in the first and therefore not switching off your immoboliser.
