ABS light & Horn

Another issue has reared its ugly mug. ABS light has come on and the horn has stopped working. As i have an aftermarket wheel on their I'm assuming this is no coincidence and that whatever wiring was done when wheel was repaced is the issue now.
Question is, where is the best place to look for the problem and rectify it. I was thinking of having the wheel off tomorrow and seeing what i can see but in all honesty know naff all about electrics. Any advice gladly accepted.

Hi Wayne, have a look for a blown fuse. The fuse box locations are engine bay and behind the small change compartment just to the right of the steering wheel. I think the ABS is a 10A.

Re: ABS light & Horn

Would try Fuses first mate(start with easiest option lol)Abs light is more than likely a wheel sensor gone, sometimes on other cars ive had probs with them after changing discs where rusts come off and got round em or they`ve just generally got crapped up,do have a limited life though, had one on my 106gti when it were 3yr old.

(Never had probs with mine yet though on the scoob)

Re: Airbag light & Horn

I am a dumbass. Didn't mean the ABS light at all did I, my car doesn't have it, i meant the airbag light.

Lets start again shall we!

I'll check the fuse for the horn but the fact that the 2 of them came on together like that makes me think it is something to do with the wiring.

Gotta be honest wayne thought fcuk me didnt think it had it but didnt like questioning you

lol you want to check youre steering wheels not coming loose then or there could be a nasty/comedy moment depending where youre driving at the time

Just parking i`d pay to see it but otherwise could be nasty, does it feel loose at all wayne, reason i ask is ive had cars before thats had contacts on the bk of the wheel that follow a circular track round the column now i aint sure what a scoobys like as ive never had the wheel off but these could be just worn or not in contact.

Wheel doesn't feel loose at all. Had it it would have been sorted pretty quick. I'll check the column/contacts etc. I'm giving the clean a good clean/wax tomorrow (it is absolutely filthy) so I'll have the wheel off at the same time.

Cheers Dave.

Re: ABS light & Horn

Im worried about you guys this wk,werent sure about wether scoobys had the pretensioner jobbies that connect under the seats, 106 did and when disconnected did bring airbag light on on that-long story but were fitting amps subs etc an had seats out to put cabling in under carpet an forgot about picking missus(at the time) up in notts at a certain time-chucked one front seat in an set off with the airbag light on an couldnt figure why.

Drove to notts with steering wheel as far away from me as possible(werent sure what were up with it lol + dint want it goin off ).

Finished cabling off that night put seat bk in after connecting multiplug under the seat-Airbag light went off(so same circuit).

Re: ABS light & Horn

Fuses and relays were all fine but just pulling them and sticking them back in seems to have sorted the horn. Pretty sure I'm gonna have to have the wheel off to sort the Air Bag light though.

Thats where I would start to especially since you went for the aftermarket wheel
