Smile door sensor

i want to disable my drivers door sensor. till i can get a new one.
if i remove the srew holding the sensor housing in place will this break the circuit.
does the screw act as an earth screw grounding to body?
I ask this cause the sensor /switch only has one blue wire going to it.
i read when the switch is open it makes the open door light come on when closed stays off
im a complete newb so any response appreciated.

Re: door sensor

what it used to be on old pin switches were the plastic pin had a metal end that the connector went on when the pin were fully open the end of the pin touched the body of the switch/hence the car forming an earth ,if theyre still the same it may still earth from the body of switch to the car, just take the switch out all together an tape the connector out the way/and over the hole.
