question about standard subaru alarms

hello all,

just wondering, is the 2006 (hawkeye) impreza's alarm system thatcham approved at all?

i found something somewhere that suggested it was but cant find it again?

im wondering because i was going to have a clifford 650 mkII installed and the bloke said the standard alarm on the 2006> impreza's was fine, and getting that clifford would mean i was paying all that money for something i already have (apart from the proximity sensor of course).

just wondering what the score is here? i cant see why he would be fibbing as by saying that he is talking himself out of a sale.

oooh and i should add that he was one of the APPROVED fitters for clifford on the clifford official site?

he recommended keeping the standard alarm and just fitting a device that means entering a code on a remote to start the car.

any input lads and lasses?

PS- ive never actually HEARD my alarm before? even if ive left the window open during the night.

UK newage impreza's are Thatcham CAT 1 approved and have the Sigma alarm system.

Page 2 of the "Subaru" operating instructios manual.

Re: question about standard subaru alarms

cheers pete!

i investigated into it and found out that imprezas of UK are indeed fitted with thatcham 1 alarms...

BUT, i also just found out that NON-UK (that includes mine ) are NOT fitted with thatcham 1 category. just a standard immobiliser.

so, looks like my pennies will be flying away after all.
