As you know the only way to reset these ECUs is via the OBDII diagnostics port using a computer. Not like the classic impreza, disconnect the negative terminal and then press the brake pedal for 30 sec. Reconnect the terminal and your ECU is reset.

If the codes have been cleared by the garage then the ecu should be back to normal anyway although it may take 10 miles or so for it to relearn its fine tuning parameters like when to dump the charcoal canister and it will also start to advance the timing multiplier again until it reaches optimum before det occurs. Doesnt take long anyway.

Thumbs up ???

and also whilst resetting, you connect the black plugs, turn on ignition and wait for the cel light to flash, it flash irregulary if there's a fault, does this mean you cannot continue reset the ecu without getting the car checked by a specialist? plus if there is a fault why don't the cel light light up under normal conditions to say there is a fault? cheers guys for any info on this topic

the cel doesn't come on for everything like a lot of people on here say it didn't come on when their maf was knackered but if there is a fault it is worth checking out but you can still do the reset and it should clear it, but bear in mind that it will come back if it sees it as a problem.
