Post Battery Woes

Hi
Just bought a new battery to solve the non starting issues, but after 3 months it's dead as well. I have a 2001 bugeye WRX, which is used at weekends only, after leaving for 3 weeks the battery was just dead, would n't even open the central locking. Compared with the old one that was very sluggish, but would start most of the time and would always light up the dash and open the doors.
So i'i thinking just a naff battery or a possible electrical problem that would drain it?
When i use the car i always try to take it for a good run, and have never had any alternator trouble before.
Anybody had similar problems? Any advise appreciated.
Cheers

Re: Battery Woes

does it have a tracker ?
it will be the batteries in the tracker or the alarm unit itself.

Re: Battery Woes

Had the same problem with my old impreza. After much testing, a battery and a starter motor turned out it was the standard sigma alarm all along. would not drain the battery all the time, could go weeks sometimes then would drain overnight.

Re: Battery Woes

have the same problem with my sti which has a tracker ... if its not used for a couple of weeks its usually flat.If caught in time before its too dead to start, the alarm gives a little bleep just before it fires up..lf not its lots of bleeps off me....best way is to keep the battery charged up when its not being used on a daily basis

Re: Battery Woes

im guessing you don't use it alot, mine suffered the same, after a few weeks the bats dead, jump it, drive it and seems fine, but come to it again a bit later and its dead again.

I ended up getting a bttery conditioner, keeps the battery charged and switches on and off to keep it topped up

Re: Battery Woes

Thanks for the info.
With regard alarm batteries, i take it they can be replaced? any guide on that would be appreciated. Sorry for simple questions but it's a bit of a change from 20 years in the VW World.
Also i'll look into a battery conditioner as after August may be of the road for a while, but i'm to old to kepp pushing out of the garage.

Re: Battery Woes

they are just rechargable AAA batteries normally in a tracker so id say the same for the alarm.
