Newbie...with problems :(

Hi all,im new to the site. After owning a 1996 wrx for around 2 month now i thought id join and get some tips and advice

Well i need the advice already lol picked up my little lad from nursery yesterday and popped my parents on the way home, got out the car and pressed the alarm fob to lock it but nothing happened. Tried again, light flashes on the fob but doors dont lock, changed the battery in the fob and still nothing.

As the alarm and immobiliser are connected i couldnt get the car to start so had to leave it there. The alarm is a gt auto alarm gt136/142 cat 1 system and is quite old, fitted in 99. Has anyone had any similar problems with these? Any help would be very much appreciated before i have to call an auto electrician.

Would an auto electrician be able to do that easily?

Re: Newbie...with problems :(

hi there fellow detail world member lol
It could just be your Fob not paired properly,
Welcome to GT Alarm - Official website
taken from another site,
I am having exactly the same problem. I found my alarm in the passenger footwell - it has GT121 marked on it but the certificate mentions GT 136/142. However, I have tried enrolling the key fobs as mentioned in both 121 and 136 fitting instructions with no luck...
I turn on the ignition, then I press the 'touch' key to the connector (round thing with three connectors - sounds like the one in your glove box) in the passenger footwell - this disables the alarm, switch DIP switch 2 (inside alarm housing) on and press remote. But mine doesn't register.
I'll let you know if I ever get round this. Currently I am considering ripping the whole thing out.
