Bucket & self pumping hose..

Hey there,

As a child I recall going to the Earls court motor show. They used to have sales pitches of gadgets.. (kinda like JML) stuff upstairs.

There use to be a gadget which attached to a hose pipe which would be clipped into a bucket of water.
This gadget would somehow pump the water out of the pucket by moving the hose around no tap and long trailing hose required. Sounds bizzar I know, but it worked.

I have tried a couple of times to find this device on the net but have had no joy. So, did I dream it or does anyone else know what I'm talking about. If so, when can I find it?

cheers
Angelo.

Spot on....

Thanks for finding that Pete.. Will be ordering asap.. Wife does her nut when I pass the garden hose through the house each week to wash the car on the drive.

Had enough of spending £5.00+ for the some non English speaking dude to rub a dirty sponge over my paint work and go out at with a concrete stripping pressure washer..

Thanks again
Angelo.

angelo did you get that wash kit? if you did, is it any good? i'm thinking about getting one because the car is parked about 50 yards away from the house and for some reason every tap in the house is a mixer tap

Hey mate,

I'll keep you posted as QVC ran out, probably due to summer coming and people are washing their caravans.. They took the money out of my account last week and so I'd expect it to get delivered sometime this week..

Will let you know..
Angelo.

Hiya,

Right... Its not that great.. First of all it works best by holding the brush vertically and move it in an up and down motion quickly. Once the water is flowing and the air bubbles are out of the hose then you can get a circular motion going for a bit then you have to go up and down again to keep the water flowing. I suppose for the washing its ok but for rinsing its a pain.. Its just more hardwork than it looks on the TV promo..

5/10... maybe..

I'd say bucket and sponge is quicker... Only upside is that you use clean soapy/wax/water all the way through.. As you never put the sponge back into the water...

To be honest I generally don't rinse the car anyway. I wash the car with bucket and sponge. In the bucket I add one of the carwashing wax/soap solutions..

Once I've gone round the car I fill the bucket with clean water and chamois the car off, rinsing the chamois in the bucket as I go along.. That way I leave an element of the wax on the car.. works for me.. I probably will still use the "Washmatik" now and again.. but in truth I certainly wasn't impressed by it.. May give it a go and wash the house windows.. To get my moneys worth...
