I'm not so sure.
If you look at the impreza sales over the past few years they are now almost down to zero.
Combined stats (53 models) IMPREZA - How Many Left?

From over 6,500 new registrations of the impreza in 2003, to under 200 in 2011, and now just over 50 in 2012 - there's barely enough sales for the importers.
And that's combined stats for all Impreza models.


figures for the STi are even worse:

There are many more classic impreza's registered than newage, so I think the newage ones will hold their value better and the classics will gradually drop in numbers, then we'll eventually see a small number of newage impreza's running around - but not many.

But thats just my opinion, who knows what will happen.

Maybe it's all just a marketing ploy by Subaru to get people talking, and drum up more interest in the Impreza.
